Our actions

On 12 February, 18 March and 24 April, a three-day cross-border online challenge was organised. Approximately sixty students from Flanders, Wallonia and Northern France participated in the challenge as a mixed team. They used a new tool - the Flourishing Business Canvas - to propose innovative and sustainable solutions for the cross-border development of start-ups in the region: the Lille-based start-ups La vie est belt and Glasses from ZAC and the Flemish start-ups COSH and Play it safe

On 1 October 2020, TRANSFIRM hosted four round tables in the fields of digital, retail, product design and marketing, and services to individuals and businesses as part of the Student Project Week that was organised in Wallonia. The students were thus able to engage with young entrepreneurs.

From 22 to 24 November 2019, Eurasanté, the Pôle Clubster NSL and Euralimentaire organised the 4th iteration of Hibster, the health innovation bootcamp in the Hauts-de-France. A group of 150 students spent 48 hours thinking, creating and innovating to meet the needs of 15 companies. Thanks to TRANSFIRM, two Walloon students from HEPH Condorcet and six Flemish students from HOWEST were able to participate in this Lille bootcamp.

On the occasion of Student Project Week in Wallonia, which run from 25 March to 29 March 2019, two Belgian incubators
specialising in support to student entrepreneurs (La Maison de l'Entreprise and the Start
Me Up Challenge) invited TRANSFIRM partners to set up a booth at Student Project Week.
The event, which aims to raise awareness of student entrepreneurship, combines conferences with opportunities for students to promote their projects. Seven
French student-entrepreneurs participated in the conferences in Mons and Charleroi.

On 27 February 2019, TRANSFIRM invited approximately 20 French and Belgian students to a workshop day at the Leroy Merlin FabLab TechShop in Lille.

With the help of a coach, the mixed teams created a prototype that respected technical constraints during a creative maker workshop.

During the second activity, the team were given the opportunity to understand the design behind an everyday object by deconstructing it and then rebuilding it to change its initial functionality.

On 18 December 2018, approximately 40 Flemish students as well as half a dozen Walloon student-entrepreneurs and five French student-entrepreneurs gave 5-minute elevator pitches about their student projects during an afternoon meeting, in the margin of Jan Detand's course at Ghent University.

UCLouvain is conducting research to establish an inventory of student-entrepreneur support programs in the three regions. Workshops were organised with incubators and student-entrepreneurs in these incubators to identify their needs and the different solutions that each incubator/support structure provides.
